                                                         Something About My Reading

As a child, my folks/family never read to me, because my parents are busy taking care their business, so that they don’t have much time for me. I am sometimes jealous my friends that their parents and folks read to them and also tell them the stories. How lucky they are! I wish that one day, my parents or folks could read to me. For me, if I have a children, I will read to them everyday. Even though I am busy or whatever I will spend time to read to them everyday, because I want them to learn  something new every their single day.

In my past school reading experiences, I sometimes tend to skim texts for answers, but sometimes I like to selections word-for-word. Depending on situation, If I have a test or quiz, I would like to skim for answers. But if it not a test or quiz, I will read selections word-for-word, because I don’t want missing word and I want to learn new words. I have not been taught specific reading or text comprehension strategies such as SQ4R or others. The specific book, I have read are “we beat the street” and “The Pact”. Both of this books are the same meaning. The author just wrote different title and “The Pact” has more specific words. I knew both of the books are the same, but I like to read both, because I want to compare what and how different of both ? So I figure out “We beat the street” is more easier to understand than “The Pact” and I also learned a lot of new words.

Reading well was important to my success in middle and high school, I felt that. I thought the more I read well, the more  understanding well I will be. In my high school, I used to do IELTS book, so I have to listen to the audiobooks to answers the questions on the book. Based on my past experiences, my expectations about the reading well in college will help me to get success more easier.

In my family, no one attend college. My dad finished high school and my mom doesn’t. I am a first generation college student, so that I promise myself that I have to get a least associate degree, because I want my parents proud of me.
